Shermoen & Jaksa, PLLP had its beginnings in 1968 when Jerome W. Shermoen and his wife, Toni, moved to International Falls, Minnesota, from Fargo, North Dakota. Jerry began his sole
proprietorship in 1970. Over the next several decades, various law clerks, associates, and partners became members of the team. In August of 1983, the firm constructed a new office building at its
current location, 345 Sixth Avenue in International Falls. Michael Jaksa joined the firm in 1981, Jerrod Shermoen in 1997, and Kimberly Literovich in 2007.
Jerry Shermoen, founding partner, formed the firm over 35 years ago. He did so with the intent of providing the International Falls and surrounding communities with personal, professional,
and quality legal services. As with the times, the attorneys and staff of Shermoen & Jaksa have changed but the firm is still committed to providing legal services with that same founding spirit.
The demands on a competent, professional law firm are ever-changing and increasing. The partners and staff have grown with and adapted to such changes. The firm prides itself on being able to meet
the needs of its clients in an efficient manner.
Jerome W. Shermoen retired on December 31, 2006. Today, Shermoen & Jaksa, PLLP consists of two partners, Mike Jaksa and Jerrod Shermoen; one associate, Kimberly A. Literovich; and five
support staff.
As a whole, the firm is able to meet the many needs of the people and understands the dynamics of practicing law in a rural community. Shermoen & Jaksa is a full-service law firm practicing in the
